This book was incredible, it took my ages to finally pick it up and read it, I adore Anna as a writer and a person, I knew I would love this book. Anna writes in a way that the words just flow on the page and make it so easy to read, I read it in a few days, I would have devoured it in one if I wasn’t super tired.

It is a modern day retelling of Little Women, which I have never read, I know… honestly I’m so bad when I comes to classics, I do own Little Women but it is so huge that I have never wanted to sit and read it, I didn’t read at all throughout my teens, it was actually After by Anna Todd that got me into reading, back when she was posting on Wattpad, I honestly love her so much. I really owe my love of reading to Anna!

Anyway sometimes I find it so hard to put into words how much I’ve enjoyed a book, without including spoilers or just waffling, so I’m really going to try with this one. My words probably won’t do it justice at all.

The book switched different POVs at the very start we get a little bit from Meredith, the girls mother, which is really lovely. There are four ‘Spring Girls’ but only the older three POVs are included, Meg and Jo in particular.

These girls live on an army base, there dad is deployed and we can see how much of an affect it has on the family, with money issues and the different struggles the girls are going through, it just seems like a really hard time.

Each girl is completely different from the other, there is slight similarities but they are all so different in my opinion, Meg is outgoing and has had a hard time, with rumours and I get the feeling that a lot of people see her as a bit of a ‘slut’ the book does deal with a lot of slut shaming, I think she was just lost and wanted so much for herself, I loved watching how much she changed throughout the story, and I adored her ending.

Jo was my favourite of the girls, she was feisty and just didn’t seem to care about things like others did, she was so brilliantly written, she had such character development through the book. I loved her relationship with Laurie, it was probably my favourite part of the book!

I felt so sorry for Beth, her anxieties and then all the stuff she did in the house for her family and being so young. I loved her ending too though, it made the book so honest and realistic! And really brought today’s struggles and topics and diversities into this wonderful novel.

Amy was definitely my least favourite, although I think she was supposed to be. She was that annoying and bratty little sister. I did sort of warm to her in some scenes, but most I just wanted to tell at her.

The way the whole story was told was beautiful, there was a lot of ups and downs and a lot that happens within the pages, it really gripped me right from the start.

I highly reccomend this book, it is a wonderfully written romantic book that would make a great summer read!
