Layla by Colleen Hoover

When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

Colleen Hoover is another one of my auto buy authors, I absolutely adore her writing, no matter what she puts out, and she’s an author that really likes to dip into different genres, romance, YA, thrillers… and now paranormal romance.

PR isn’t a genre that I’ve read a lot of honestly, not because I don’t like it, just because I haven’t found a lot of it that I’ve wanted to read. But of course I’ll read anything CoHo writes, with Layla I got sucked right in and read it in one sitting, thankfully it was the Christmas holidays so I had plenty of time to do so.

This story was amazing, the plot was so good and so well thought out, I honestly have no idea how CoHo came up with that, it was brilliant! Something totally fresh, nothing like I’ve ever read before.

The story focuses on Leeds and Layla, a really great couple, but with a lot going on. I loved the paranormal aspects mixed in with a romance book.

I went in as blind as possible with this book, something I do usually do with authors I love, I very rarely even read the blurbs, except for when they originally announce the book, and I’m so glad I did, I didn’t want any clues or hints at all, I wanted to try and figure this out.

The book is very much like a mystery, and from reading a few other reviews I’m pretty sure I missed a clue or two throughout, because honestly I had no clue, like not even an iota about what was really going on and the ending, I was literally so surprised, in the best way!

The romance was just enough, a perfect mix with the paranormal stuff going on, Leeds abs Layla meet and fall in love fairly quickly, they’d romance is a bit of a whirlwind, with a lot happening in a short amount of time, but I loved the way they loved each other, they’d connection seemed so genuine and loving, they were a great couple, especially in a book like this.

If you think you might like this, or it has sparked your interest I highly recommend it! It is a bit different from the usual CoHo, but her writing essence is there, and I was honestly hooked, you won’t want to put it down once you pick it up!
