Bad Things Trilogy by R.K. Lilley

Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier.

One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given.

She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?

For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

This trilogy has been on my TBR for so long, I finally got round to listening to it on audible while being back at work, and wow! I flew through it, listening for hours a day! I love R.K Lilley’s writing, I’ve read most of her books now and have thoroughly enjoyed them all, she writes such great steamy and dramatic romance!

The series revolves  around Tristan and Danika’s romance, their feelings and relationship. They had incredible chemistry right from the start, which made for scorching hot love scenes and I was quickly drawn into their world wind and kind of crazy love story right away.

I really love both Tristan and Danika as characters. Tristan is your typical jaded bad boy, left as a bit of a man whore after a relationship fall out.

But he completely swept me off my feet, I loved him. As for Danika, she was simply fantastic. I adored her. I felt so sorry did her at times, she had gone through so much and throughout this series they go through a lot, I honestly couldn’t believe how they kept going.

Danika is instantly attracted to Tristan but he makes it clear that he is only into hook ups and doesn’t do relationships. Danika, having grown up without much in the way of love, is always looking for relationships, desperate to be loved and not into hookups. They get on so well together and agree to be friends and never allow a sexual relationship to damage that relationship. They mean a lot to one another and, despite the deep attraction they both feel, so they make a list of rules so as they don’t ruin anything within their friendship.

Not only were the main characters brilliant, I loved the side characters that were included throughout were fantastic, especially Frankie, I loved Frankie, and the dogs that Danika toon care of!

The drama within these books is something else, so much happens to these characters, good bad and ugly things. I’ll not give away any spoilers but it is so full of angst, love and passion. The love scenes were great, they weren’t too over the top or cheesy, R.K. writes great sec scenes!

I really enjoyed this book it’s so very sexy and charming, it makes you just want to keep reading about these too. I fell a lot in love with Tristan, I adored him, he’s such a great book boyfriend.

There’s a few really sad moments throughout the books that will have your eyes welling up and maybe even in need of a little break from it all! This all just felt so real, so well written, every emotion, and interaction was brilliant. I really love the way R.K Lilley writes her books, I can easily fly through them.

Of course there are parts that are full of drama and maybe seem a bit far fetched, but that’s the fun of romance books, right? I love the excitement and twists that happen, there were plenty of times I was nearly screaming at the characters or wanted to stop for a bit just to collect my thoughts, which is when I know I’m really enjoying a read!

I haven’t done this series enough justice in this review, I didn’t want to include any spoilers at all, but it really was a four/five star read for me!

Like any R.K Lilley books I highly recommend this series, especially if you’re a romance lover like me! I can’t wait for more from this author.

  1. I thought this series was EPIC when I read it years ago. So emotional and gripping. But I’m not sure I would feel the same nowadays, so many years later. But I’m hoping the author will write more books in the future. 😀
