These past weeks have been a very confusing and strange time, everyone staying inside and although I will admit to loving my introverted side and good night at home, this has been so awful at times. I love getting out and about, going to work, the gym, a bit of shopping or a coffee date with a friend, and not to mention a few trips away… I’m usually always on the go.
I wouldn’t have said before that I would be an anxious person, but this has definitely made me one, I’ve felt so much anxiety over these last few weeks, and I just hope this all passes soon, and that everyone stays safe at home to allow it to.
I thought I’d do a little post about what I’ve been doing to keep busy during these weeks…
Reading, obviously. But not as much as I’d like to have done, I found myself in a bit of a reading slump, but I’m hoping that I’m coming out of that now. I’ll leave a photo of my current TBR.
TV/Movies. I subscribed to Disney+ which I’m super excited about, I’ve added a few Disney movies that I haven’t watched before to my list, I’m excited to get through those and also watch my favourites!
Exercise/workouts. I’m so used to going to my bootcamp classes almost every evening, or at least being able to go. Thankfully my instructor has posted some classes online for us to do home workouts, I try to do attests half an hour every day, along with taking my dog on a short walk in my area.
Embroidery. I hand never been very good at art, I’m not overly creative. But my best friend ordered an embroidery kit and I thought it sounded fun, so I got one too, and now I’m obsessed with needlepoint! It’s so fun and easy to do, I learned to sew in primary school, but I didn’t think I could manage anything like this, I followed a pattern for my first one, and then I drew/traced the other two, and yes that it Harry Styles.
Nintendo switch. I will admit to spending my birthday money on a switch because I knew would be end up in isolation and I wanted something extra to keep the boredom at bay, and yes I’m now obsessed. Animal crossing is my favourite, but I also got brain training which is as good as I remember from the DS day’s and is helping to keep my brain active and thinking!
Chatting with friends online. All these online video chat apps have been amazing for keeping in contact, a few of my friends live in different countries, so I am used to talking to them online, but I’m so grateful that I get to check in with my friends that I see regularly this way too.
Playing with my dog. Honestly I don’t know what I’d do without him at the minute, we can’t get out on our usual walks but he has plenty of toys at home for us to play with, and his cuddles have been most welcomed.
What have you guys been up to in isolation? If you are isolating, I know there are so many people still working and I’m so thankful for all of you! I wanted to sign up to help the NHS, but unfortunately my granny is very vulnerable and my mum (who I live with) is her primary carer, so I can’t risk bringing anything home.
I hope you’re all doing well and finding lots of things to keep you entertained at home! Feel free to message me if you’d like to chat, my Twitter DMs are most definitely open! (@BookishBitsBlog).
