Verity by Colleen Hoover

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity likely didn’t intend for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

This book was everything I needed to read,  I already know I’m going to struggle to put into words how good it was, but it’s one of those books I just wanted to tell everyone about, so I’m going to try.

Colleen Hoover usually writes romance, and although it’s kind of a romantic thriller, it was nothing like her usual work, but seriously, if you’re a fan of CoHo, don’t let that put you off!

The entire time I was reading it I just kept saying ‘oh my god’ and ‘how is this so messed up?’ I was hooked right from the beginning.

I read this so quickly, I just needed to know what was going to happen, the book was so fast paced and easy to read.

I constantly had thoughts about what might happen, my own little theories and of course none of them were correct.

The way Colleen wrote this and had it play out was incredible, the plot was so out there, but so well written and developed, I’d love to know how she came up with this, because it’s crazy!

The story follows Lowen, a writer who takes on a job of writing the last novels to finish a series by a well renowned author who has had a terrible accident and is unable to continue writing.

Lowen goes to the authors home to stay for a little while to work through notes in the authors office, she however finds a whole lot more than just book notes. What she finds is disturbing and unbelievable, I was on the edge of my seat while reading this. I can’t say to much because I don’t want to give anything away, just that it really is a brilliant book, one of the best thrillers I have ever read.

The ending just blew my mind!

Like I said beside, my words couldn’t do this book justice, Colleen’s writing is so great, I’ve loved every single one of her books, although this one is different from her others I devoured it and enjoyed it just as much, I would highly recommend reading Verity, although be prepared, it’s not for the faint hearted.
