Girl Online Series by Zoe Sugg (Zoella)

I finished the series last year but never got around to reviewing it, Zoella was getting some unkind attention not so long ago, I’m a fan of Zoe so I thought I would put some positivity out there and review this series that I loved!

I had no idea GirlOnline would take off the way it has – I can’t believe I now have 5432 followers, thanks so much! – and the thought of opening up to you all about this is terrifying, but here goes…

Penny has a secret.

Under the alias GirlOnline, she blogs about school dramas, boys, her mad, whirlwind family – and the panic attacks she’s suffered from lately. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets the gorgeous, guitar-strumming Noah. Suddenly Penny is falling in love – and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret too. One that threatens to ruin Penny’s cover – and her closest friendship – forever.

Girl Online is the story of Penny, who is a teenage girl who runs a blog to help her through the stressful years of teenage life, Penny and her best friend Elliot are inseparable as they face the challenges of a high school play, parental expectations and trips abroad. Girl Online includes number of themes which are very relevant to today’s teenagers: Online bullying, dealing sexual preferences? first loves and friendships that stop working.
In Girl Online Penny’s family take her on a trip to New York, she meets a young pop star l, Noah. While they are in New York, sparks fly between them , but noah is keeping a secret that threatens their developing relationship.

In Girl Online: On Tour, Penny and Noah continue their relationship. Penny has joined Noah on his tour. Even though she is excited and happy to be there watching Noah do what he loves, she can’t help but feel that touring with his band isn’t all that she thought it would be.

In Girl Online: Going Solo, Penny is back to working on her blog and is doing an internship with a well known photographer. However, Noah is nowhere to be found. Penny hasn’t heard from him for a while, and wonders if she’ll see him again. When she visits her friend Megan, at her art school, Penny becomes friends with a girl named Posey, someone that she has a lot in common with. She also meets a boy named Callum. Although Noah is always on her mind, She wonders if getting to know Callum would be good for

It was a story that was easy to read, it was written brilliantly, it kept me wanting to read until the end, especially the last book, I needed to know what would happen!
I loved all three books, the sequels do a great job of meeting and exceeding the standards set by the first book, it wasn’t a series that was dragged out over the three books. Honestly I think I enjoyed the second and third book more than the first. There is more happening in the second and third books, the characters are even further developed, the story really grows.

There are definitely bits of the book that a lot of readers will consider to be too cheesy, or another cliche teen love story. And yes, I guess it is, but I do love those books every now and then, I am a sucker for a cute romance!

The way the story dealt with Penny’s anxiety was brilliant, it allows young girls, or anyone to see that they are not alone with these things.

It was well written, the characters were all developed well, the three books were just enough to explore the whole story and give the readers the ending that we would be happy with.
I loved the setting, after reading these books Brighton has been added to my places I want to travel list! The way Everything was described I really felt like I could have been there!

There is a lot of controversy about this book that I won’t get into, I just want to finish by saying that I enjoyed the series thoroughly, they were books that I read quickly and I think this series is always going to be a well read series by young girls all over! Thank you Zoe for your thoughts and the work you put into these books! 🙂

I am personally a huge Zoella fan, I obviously don’t know her but I think she is such a great role model and someone to look up too! I love watching her videos and I own a lot of her products!

I have a giveaway! A bookmark SIGNED by Zoella, from book club! Head to my Twitter if you want to win it!
