Bad Girls with Perfect Faces by Lynn Weingarten

No one is good enough for Xavier. Not according to Sasha, his best friend. There’s nothing Sasha wouldn’t do to protect Xavier from getting hurt, especially by his cheating ex Ivy, who’s suddenly slithered back into the picture. Worried that Xavier is ready to forgive and forget, Sasha decides to do a little catfishing. She poses as a hot guy online, to prove cheaters never change.

But Sasha’s plan goes wrong fast, and soon the lies lead down a path from which there’s no return . . .

I received this book from the publisher, it is published by Electric Monkey, a YA imprint of Egmont publishing. This was a new author to me too!

I read this in almost one sitting, it gripped me that much! I’m very into YA thriller or thriller books in general at the minute, Bad Girls With Perfect Faces was a great thriller that had me confused and wondering a lot, which for me is a great thing when reading this type of book!

This main characters Sasha and Xavier, are best friends, on Xavier’s birthday they go to a club and run into Ivy, Xavier’s not so great ex-girlfriend. Secretly Sasha is in love with Xavier, and was planning to tell him that very night, so obviously she’s not best pleased about Ivy returning into Xavier’s life. Sasha then goes out of her way to try to catch Ivy in the act of cheating, it does make you think what type of person Sasha is? To go through all that trouble, but also Ivy is a pretty horrible.

There were so many POV’s. There was a 1st POV from Sasha, which in the 2nd part of the book changes to 2nd person, there is 3rd POV from Xavier, and a 1st POV written diary style from someone, Ivy? Or someone else? I am used to reading one or two point of views from 1st person in books. So many point of views may sound like too much, but it really worked and brought in some mystery, especially from the diary.

I thought the social media aspect of the book worked well, the texts and instagramming really added to the story, and I also think those bits made the book a quicker read too!

The plot was fantastic, when you think you know what’s going to happen… and then find out you were completely wrong is fantastic! I’m so glad this book wasn’t predictable! It really shocked me, it was well thought out and well written! The characters were interesting and brought to life on the pages.

I highly recommend this book! Give it a try it this is a genre you like, if it’s not still give it a read, I guarantee you’ll me hooked and need to know what happens! I think I’ll be getting more books by Lynn now!

Has anyone read any YA thriller books like this? I’m on the hunt!
